All our therapists are registered with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) and Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).


Kathy Cann is a Clinical Lead Therapist specialising it stroke and aphasia. 

She qualified as a speech and language therapist in 1994 and has extensive experience in the field of adult neurology, including working with head injury, Parkinson's, MND and stroke.

Kathy is passionate about person-centred care and will work with you to design goals and therapy plans that are meaningful to you.

Kathy  also specialises in producing accessible information, producing original images and designs aimed at supporting accessible communication. Have a look on the Aphasia Friendly Resources web pages for examples.

  • Individual packages of careto suit your personal circumstances.  This may be one-off assessment and advice, up to a full therapy package.

Independent Speech and Language Therapy Service


iSLT offers a highly specialised professional speech and language therapy service for adults.


Our Therapists are able to offer you remote interventions via videoconference, telephone conference and email.

We are able to offer face to face services in County Durham and surrounding areas (currently suspended due to Covid-19 restrictions - but able to take future bookings).
